L’Occitane | Jo Malone | Elemis | Aesop
Cold weather means dry and irritable skin. I have to admit, been ignoring what my skin needs for some time and have tried many lotions, especially around the winter months. It has taken me this long to realise my skin reacts a lot better from oils. Applying on damp skin during and after a shower or bath makes sense as your skin absorbs more quickly.
In only a short amount of time, I’m realising how smooth my skin should have been after changing from lotions to oils.
Preparation is key when applying any product to the skin I find. A combination of exfoliating and using less harsh shower gels combined with using oils and other treatment works the best.
You can spend as little as much your budget can withstand. But now and again having better higher grade ingredients for me can make a big difference to the skin.
I like a bargain like the next person. Around the January sales, was the perfect opportunity to try-out some more luxury skincare brands like L’Occitane and Elemis I hadn’t previously experienced before. The gift sets are more likely to have mini or travel sizes of oils and skincare products. That way you can sample a few products from each range before committing to a full-size.As mentioned in many blog posts I have written about Jo Malone; the Lime Basil & Mandarin Shower Oil is a great smelling and non-greasy product. Like L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil turns into a milky consistency once water is applied. Feels great and fills the bathroom with a gorgeous scent.
I’ve used almond oil for many years in my hair products and have loved the results. Soft and manageable hair. So, using the L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil is a no-brainer. Love how this makes my skin feel hours afterwards and comes in very useful sizes too. Travel, 250ml, 500ml and eco refill.Since I went to The House of Elemis in London to attend an event hosted by YouTuber Lydia Millen, been looking at the Elemis range in more depth.
There are plenty of great award-winning products which I use and love the Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm. For my body, I have been using for a pamper session at home the Elemis Frangipani Monoi Body Cream, shower cream and body oil. Apart from leaving my skin soft, nourished and moisturised, the fragrance is out of this world.Fast becoming a staple treatment of my skincare routine. The Aesop Geranium Leaf Hydrating Body Treatment works well with the Resurrection hand balm, which when mixed together, a few drops provides even more moisture to my skin which is desperately needed in the winter.
I have accumulated a stash of oils, but I have narrowed the ones which I think will be my favourites for a while. To make things simple, you can shop the post for all of the treatments and oils mentioned in the post below.
