Fashion basic essentials to wear this autumn
Yes, it is that time of the year when all we just want to do is layer up; snuggle up to a warm jumper and an oversized coat. If we can’t walk around with our duvets and quilts at least we can try to look a bit stylish this autumn/fall season.
Autumn seems to be the season where I seem to gravitate to wearing grey the most. You would think I would have loathed wearing grey as this was our school uniform for many years.
Love to wear grey, jumpers, coats and accessories, especially with different details and textures.
This light check pattern scarf is light and soft from Anthropologie (Similar styles); was an unexpected find when the last thing you are thinking about is buying a scarf; I stumbled across this one in the summer sale.
Coat: ASOS Tall
I have had my eye out for this coat from ASOS (similar styles) for a while now so snapped it up when it was in the sale quicker than you can say grey coat.
I’m 5ft 8 so the ASOS tall range is great as they cut the clothes more generously. I love how this single coat feels, has a mohair quality feel to it. With my long arms, broad shoulders and a bust; I can appreciate the cut of this coat. As well as fitting well, it is warm yet lightweight.
Sweat shirt: H&M
I’m all about layering and texture, yet keep classic and basic pieces in my wardrobe to re-wear season after season. So I wouldn’t normally go for a sweatshirt. What I liked are the sleeves. This pale grey slightly cropped ruched sleeve sweater style is the ideal layering piece to snuggle in.
V-neck Jumper: Top Shop
Another way to look good in grey and to change things up a bit is to vary the shade of grey. This trim longline v from Topshop has more a silver tone and is lightweight for those not so cold autumn/fall days.
I particularly like the slouchy shape and the rib edge detailing. Can be dressed up or dressed down.
